Tower View teacher Ben Slagle (left) and students Leslie Dixon, Gracie Spriggle, Cameron Wilson, Rachel Safe and Cole Swanson work during the fall semester to make and sell candles, with the proceeds going to the local charity Connecting Connection. (Republican Eagle photos by John R. Russett)
The supplies and candles waiting to be trimmed and cleaned sit ready at Tower View. Students melt the soy-based wax, then add the color, scents and wicks.
The finished products are labeled and organized, making inventory easier for the students to manager. The labels were designed by students.
Once the colors, scents and wicks are added to the wax, the candles are placed on a shelf to cool and await the cleaning process.
The students have more than 30 scents from which to choose while making their candles.
